A  Bell    Day  4

The robotics team is accepting new members now.  If you are interested in being on the team you should sign up now.  We will be holding workshops for current and new members during the summer and to be eligible you need to see Mr Galie in room 218 to get on the mailing list for information about the workshops.

Looking for a summer job?

Thunderbird Lanes, SMG, ihop, Chick fil A, Leslie’s Pool Supply,Taormina’s, BounceU, babysitting, and more want to hire Wood students.

Flyers are posted on the job board in the Guidance Office.

NHS tutoring is offered every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoon from 2:20 until 3:00 in room 211 (directly across the hall from the Learning Commons).  Students wishing to attend need to go to the Academic Office, find the NHS Tutoring binder, and sign up by 11:00 a.m. on those days.

Math Tutoring:  Throughout the school year, Mr. Beard will once again be offering his math tutoring services every Tuesday and Wednesday during lunch in the Learning Commons.  You must sign up in the cafeteria PRIOR to going to tutoring.

In order to participate in a sport at Archbishop Wood your child must have a physical. Athletic cards for fall sports will be available beginning July 31st. No cards will be given out prior to July 31st. Bring your completed PIAA Physical Form to the Business Office, room 245 between the hours of 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday thru Friday. Evening hours will be available on Monday, July 31st and Thursday, August 3rd, 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM. The PIAA Physical Form can be accessed here PIAA Physical.

Archbishop Wood encourages students to read all twelve months of the year.   This summer our faculty and staff compiled a comprehensive list of books covering a variety of interests.  Look at our list, and choose a title that intrigues you.  Read it with your family or a friend.

When finished reading, click on the Google Form link below and complete the form.  Any G-mail address can access the form.  For students coming to Archbishop Wood for the first time, you will receive an archwood.org email. This account is through G-mail, and students will be able to complete the Google Form through the first week of classes.

AP Scholars

Archbishop Wood offers many Advanced Placement Courses.  Students in an Advanced Placement course must sit for an examination in the spring.  Scoring 3, 4, or 5 in the test qualifies students for college credits.

Congratulations to the following students who earned the distinction of AP Scholar, a designation granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams:

Parent Signature/Current Information and Student Emergency Dismissal Forms are due September 15, 2017.  These forms can be found on the website by going to the Student Services Tab, About Student Services then click on the form.  These forms can be fill out on the website, printed and signed.  Students are to return these forms to their homeroom moderator no later then Friday morning September 15, 2017.

The Wrestling Team will be holding a short mandatory meeting on Monday 9/18 @ 2:20 pm in the Student’s Center for everyone interested in joining the team this winter.  If you are in a fall sport please see Coach Meister or Coach Reilly and we’ll get you to your fall practice immediately.  All others should bring a change of clothes and sneakers for an abbreviated workout afterwards to be conclude by 4pm.

The Speech and Debate Team, a.k.a. Forensics, will have a meeting for all interested students and returning members on Thursday September 14 from 2:20-3:20 in Room 231. If you need help improving your public speaking skills or enjoy debating with people, come see what this team has to offer you. Please see Mrs. Hartranft in room 231 or email shartranft@archwood.org if you have any questions. Hope to see you there!

To All Registered Drivers :You must park in assigned parking spot. If someone parks in your spot, do not park in another spot.  Get licence number, make, model of the car and bring information into room 100 or 239.

Park out front until problem is resolved. Parking in someone else’s parking spot creates a domino effect.

Next Drivers Education Class will begin on Monday, September 25th and end on October 25th.  Stop in room 245 for the registration form.

Job Opportunity!  Ann’s Choice is hiring Wait Staff  Come to the Open House this Saturday from 11AM-1PM and you can be interviewed right away. Ann’s Choice provides competitive pay and college scholarships.  You must register online. Stop by your counselor’s office for more details.

The National Honor Society will be selling Archbishop Wood Christmas Ornaments.  The ornament features a sketch of the school in gold on a green satin Christmas ball.  A limited amount of ornaments will be available to purchase as it gets closer to Christmas, but to reserve yours, please be sure to submit a pre-order.  Ornaments are $10 each and should arrive by December 1st.  Order forms can be found in the Activities office.  All money is due to the Activities Office by Friday, October 6th.

The Speech and Debate team will have its first official practice on Thursday September 21 from 2:20 to 3:30 in room 231. Congress members should have rough drafts of affirmative/negative arguments for our submitted bills which can be found on Google classroom. All returning speech members must have a category and a possible idea for a topic. All are welcome – no experience necessary! Learning the art of public speaking is one of the greatest things you can do for yourself! Hope to see many of you there!
